I'm not sure why so many people seem to put so much weight on Stats. In over 10 years on the web, I've never met a Stats counter that was accurate more often than not.

They're really just sort of random and can be affected by any number of things.

To follow up on what thegiddygoat posted, likes and shares numbers are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the "like" and/or "share" buttons. Those who do not have accounts cannot use the like button. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/

Note: To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post thereby creating a page view stat, I have set my RSS Feed for posts to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

People can 'like' a post from the Reader, and so do not need to go onto your blog, and therefore a like from the Reader will not count as a hit in your stats.

My stats have been in correct for at least a week now. I have had four likes, but none of them have registered on my stats page. I know that more than two people have gone to see my page, but only two views are showing up on my stats page. What's going on?
