In fact, likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. I posted a new article on my blog today and from the WordPress "Likes" (I have received 2 so far) as well as responses I have had via email and Facebook I already know of 4 visits/views to my blog today yet the stats information is showing that I only have 1 visit and 2 views.
