@raincoaster: I will also be watching out for crazy Greenpeace people molesting my trees.

@Jessie: Hug all the trees you want but just be sure to call the next day. As you well know, trees are sensitive.

I was out canvassing for Greenpeace and my co-canvasser literally hugged trees. There was one I remember I could not pry her away from. I really tried. By the time she rang the doorbell of the house, the police were on their way because she had so alarmed the people by "perving" their tree they'd called them.

Thanks bird. Doh! I don't seem to be able to post a link these days. Maybe.........it's strange forces at work!! Lol.

Yes, noises can be weird. I remember in the 90s while visiting my sister in Lowestoft hearing distant rumbling noises at different times and places. It sounded really sinister but we think it was the sound of aircraft at the USAF air bases in the area. And in East Anglia sound travels well over the flat landscape.
But then, EA is a very weird place. ;)

@jessie - The sound on the video on that About page there is wind through distant woods. I hear that exact same sound everytime there's a strong wind in the upper forest. It's incredibly alarming, and I usually can't sleep through the night (I don't think I've ever noticed it during the day but that could be cos I'm online and noticing other things, lol!) By the way, your link went to the wrong page as you put the forum url on it too. Here's the link you meant to put:

http://strangesoundsinthesky.com/about

The was it was explained to me was that the wind sort of 'plays' the spaces between the trees, like a wind instrument. To me it sounds like a air through a funnel. The ground would shake... it's a heck of a strong force.

While I am not saying there aren't unexplained forces (there are bound to be: you compare our knowledge now to the knowledge - or lack of - in say the Middle Ages and imagine what we don't know now that people hundreds of years into our future will know) there are still natural and explainable ones that many people don't realise.

If you like this kind of thing, you will LOVE http://www.forteantimes.com/ . I used to spend hours on that site every day.

And Charles Fort himself is always worth a read. http://www.gutenberg.org/catalog/world/readfile?fk_files=1528497 I mean, just READ this introduction:

A procession of the damned.

By the damned, I mean the excluded.

We shall have a procession of data that Science has excluded.

Battalions of the accursed, captained by pallid data that I have
exhumed, will march. You'll read them--or they'll march. Some of them
livid and some of them fiery and some of them rotten.

Some of them are corpses, skeletons, mummies, twitching, tottering,
animated by companions that have been damned alive. There are giants
that will walk by, though sound asleep. There are things that are
theorems and things that are rags: they'll go by like Euclid arm in arm
with the spirit of anarchy. Here and there will flit little harlots.
Many are clowns. But many are of the highest respectability. Some are
assassins. There are pale stenches and gaunt superstitions and mere
shadows and lively malices: whims and amiabilities. The naïve and the
pedantic and the bizarre and the grotesque and the sincere and the
insincere, the profound and the puerile.

And that's a NONFICTION book!

Listening to the videos it sounds like a mix of the aliens from War of the Worlds (2005) the Lost monster, the Tardis and heavy machinery being shifted about!!! Go figure.
Very odd but me thinks some of these alleged 'hearings' are hoaxes. The most plausible explanation has it being magnetic particles from the Sun hitting Earth's magnetic field.....or something. Aach, I'm no physicist. It's aroused my interest anyway.

I hear odd noises from time to time and I'm sure it's natural conditions either inside the earth (we do live on a planet and so far it's still alive!) or in the atmosphere. Could be anything really, from weather or distant animals - wind through trees makes very odd noises, I live near a forest and have heard some very strange sounds including the amplified sounds of very bass-voiced sheep (which sounded like a monster wailing!) The wind, alone, can sound like rumbling, or deep rushing sounds, or growling.

Then there are the man-made things, like electrical lines that can hum from wind and other disturbances. All sorts of things really. If we humans weren't part of the picture we'd probably hear sounds more naturally - and respond to them more naturally. But then if we humans weren't here - we wouldn't be bothered by it, would we! ;)

I've been researching ley lines and, as is the nature of surfing the net, I came across reports of weird eerie noises being heard all around the world. From London to California and Brisbane to Scotland, these noise were mostly heard around January 16/17 this year.
They sound like a groaning, trumpeting and rumbly noise and fluctuates and comes in waves. Very strange.

Any one here heard them. Any explanation as to their origin? I'd be interested to know.
