You'll need to generate a new export from your Posterous site. We suggest you have a look at the file first to make sure the characters look OK. Just let me know if you have any trouble with the import into WordPress.com.

You'll need to re-download your Posterous export file and try the import again.

Just let us know if you'd like us to empty out your WordPress.com site before you do. This will delete all pages, posts, comments, images and other uploaded files, as well as categories and tags. It's not reversible.

Otherwise, you can empty your site manually.

We've gotten a few reports of this happening with other users as well. We're working together with the team at Posterous to get this fixed.

Unfortunately we don't have an ETA just yet, but we hope to get this solved soon. We'll update this thread once it's fixed and you'll have to a fresh export/import at that time.
