Also note that readers can comment only on posts themselves. With your theme, summaries of posts are shown on your front / home / blogging page. Readers must click on the post to view it entirely and to comment on it.

Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.

We can also override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden.
