Once it's on the internet (even in forums or blogs), publishers no longer want it, because it's considered already published. There are, of course, some literary journals that are okay with second publishing, but these are few and far between.

As an aspiring author, I felt it would be a good idea to get a blog, and get in the habit of writing every day, even if it's only a short post. Every little bit counts! I will be posting my writings on the blog (fanfiction, responses to prompts, exercises, etc...) and other things I find interesting--news stories, videos, all that jazz. It doesn't have much of a direction. It's more of an online journal than anything else.
