It can only be used to alter appearnce. These are the themes we have that have post sliders http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/ Only four themes have a featured post slider that automatically advances: Debut, Currents, On Demand, Modularity Lite. (the first 3 are premium themes) and the last one is a free theme.

I am trying to shorten the time it takes for the pictures to change in the image slider in the Forever theme. I looked at the CSS sheets and the transition effect timing is 900ms which does a nice sashay into the next picture, but then this new pictures stays on for about 5s before switching to the next. Can I make it 2s?
