Some people don't take blogging very serious or don't care about the technical effects some settings could cause... Isn't above a bad decision for search indexing? Removing the title of the blog from the general settings effectively renders your blog orphan.

I acknowledge that your question is directed to slikbloezs but would like to weigh in on it. Would I ever delete the Blog Title and Tagline from Settings > General simply for aesthetic reasons?

No! I am ware that if I did that I would be deleting they most important link on my blog, for as you suggest from a search engine and SEO POV I would be rendering my blog an orphan.

You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)

Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.

You ahave the Digg3 theme on your blog now. You don't need a tutorial as that theme has a "hide text" option. Go here and look closely > Appearance > Themes > Header
On that page you will see the "hide text" button. Upload your image click "hide text" and then click "Save Changes".

Esentially, my header image is going to display my blog name. I don't like having to have my blog title at the top. Yet, when I remove it, it doesnt the title of my blog in the tab.
