I'd like to delete (or hide from public access) an article without creating broken links in already existing search engines results

Once a post has been published and indexed by search engines if you change the visibility to private you create a "404" (page not found) for everyone who locates it in the SERPs and clicks it.

Is it possible to make a separate blog post (article) unsearchable (or searchable) by search engines?

For example, I'd like to delete (or hide from public access) an article without creating broken links in already existing search engines results
