I don't want to manually control my top posts and I like how the existing one displays thumbnails. The top posts/pages I have now are based on page visit activity automatically. Again, I'm just looking for a way to disable pages from showing up in this widget. Thanks.

Not so much customize the widget, but you could use a text widget to make your own choices for top posts…

Either copy / paste the code from the widget, eliminating the pages by hand. Of course you'd have to update that as top pages and posts changes… or just choose top posts you want your readers to notice.

Please note, I use my own self hosted wordpress.org based blogs as well. I understand if the .com version has this locked down but maybe there is a way to customize this widget for my own instance? Thanks.

Is there a way to remove pages from the top posts and pages widget? It seems this could be a very minor enhancement and provide value to many users.
