The static front page option is what you want (the last link from timethief). If you set the home page you created as the static front page on the Settings → Reading page, it will make the duplicate "Home" go away in the Twenty Eleven menu.

Several themes have a special header tab, usually “Home” that's not an actual page. That tab is coded into the default menu of the theme and you cannot edit or remove it (except in the few cases), unless you create and load a custom menu. You can create a Home page and custom menu and include in the custom menu it only what you want to include.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or custom links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus

If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and also create another “blog” page for your posts to display on.

Help accomplishing the following would be awesome...

The twenty-eleven theme automatically adds a 'Home' page to the navigation bar. The standard 'Home' is the landing page for blog posts.

I'd like to populate the 'Home' page with static content and post blog content to my 'News' page.

I understand the mechanics of setting my blog content to post to my news page, but need a way to set the 'Home' page as the url landing page.

I've attempted to create an alternate 'Home' page, hoping it would replace the auto created one. It didn't work, adding a second 'Home' page instead.

Any advice?

- Mike
