It looks like you tried to put the URL rather than the handle in there. Just put in PureChemistryUK.

yes I have but it doesn't provide me with a solution. I am entering it correctly yet wp changes the url on its own accord by taking away the forward slash the second I hit save or close.

Also when adding details to the widget the forward slash/ disappears once I click save or close so the link shows as twitter.comPureChemistryUK instead of twitter.com/PureChemistryUK
