It always works for me doing it that way.

Typically, I go:

Upload/Insert Video
From URL tab
Click " Audio, Video, or Other File"
Then I copy YouTube URL

And, normally this then embeds the video on my post. But, now, when going through all of these steps, I just see the link on the page, not the actual video.
