In this case it's not a twitter hashtag, but a page jump. When it's used in the link I mentioned above, http://oneoldsage.com/2013/01/09/things-we-dont-learn-no-matter-how-old-we-get/#comments it brings your readers directly to the comments section in the single post. You can read more about "page jumps" here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/

You're welcome. As it happens, I saw your "gripe" on twitter earlier. :D

I'm still a neophyte at this so pardon my stupid question but I thought that hash tags only worked for Twitter. What will the hash tag do in this case? BTW, I appreciate your assistance.

If you don't want to consider changing your theme, as I've suggested above

"Perhaps you might want to explore using a different theme?"

, you could add your own link to the comments at the end of your posts.

It would be the full URL of your post plus

#comments

I went to your site before I replied and saw what you meant. :) It's the theme you've chosen.

Some themes are definitely better at differentiating the link to the comments than the theme you are using, Adventure Journal, which indeed lumps the link to the comments together with the categories and tags. Perhaps you might want to explore using a different theme?

No the comments appear but my visitors can't find the "Comments" prompt and post box. The only way they know that comments are open is if they stumble on the very small "Comments" in the tags section. If you go to the site you should see what I mean.
Thanks

I assume you mean you can't get the comments to appear on the homepage of your site?

With one exception (the P2 theme), themes on WordPress.com only show a link to the commenting section on the homepage. A visitor to your site has to click on the post title or comment link to get to the single post view and see the comments.

Some themes are definitely better at differentiating the link to the comments than the theme you are using, Adventure Journal, which indeed lumps the link to the comments together with the categories and tags. Perhaps you might want to explore using a different theme?

Having the comments I can't get the comments prompt to appear at the end of my posts. A small "Comments" appears in the Tags section and that's it.
