Thanks for the replies and for looking into it. Fortunately I haven't seen the ad again, but unfortunately that means I can't capture the URL. In fact, there aren't any ads on my site now. Not sure why that is, but of course that is just fine with me. :)

Sorry, I re-read your comment and noticed that you did provide a screenshot. I have reported the ad to our provider.

Would you be able to tell us the URL of the ad too? Just right-click the ad and copy the link. This will help us to expedite its removal.

We do occasionally run ads in order to keep free services free. However ads of the nature you describe are not permitted in our advertiser's network.

I did not see that ad when visiting the site. If you do see an offensive ad again, please make a screenshot and attach it to a reply to this message. We take this very seriously.

Please note that it's possible for ads to appear in your browser that were not placed there by WordPress.com. These ads are sometimes caused by malware or a virus, but more often it is due to a browser extension or toolbar that you may have installed in your browser.

Ah, thanks for that; yes, that means it's a wordpress.com ad. I'll flag this for staff to check out, since they DO weed out obnoxious ads from time to time.

Of course I can do those things, but it appears to be a wordpress ad since it has the About these ads link. So it needs to be looked into and that is why I posted it.

Do the rest of what she suggested and disable the browser add-ons that are probably causing this.

I'm not at all keen on the ads that I found on my blog with revolving photos of women in low cut dresses or short shorts and the tagline of "Does she deserve a hug?" and then you are supposed to click on a button that says "yes" or "no" (but this is all in Swedish probably because that is where I am located an my blog is largely about Sweden). At any rate, this is NOT the kind of "advertising" I appreciate on my blog. Of course I can purchase the no ads upgrade, but that aside, these ads are not ok. I did what thistimethisspace suggested and saved a screenshot of the ad to my media library. The blog I am referring to is semiswede.com.

If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts, provided you see this small About These Ads link, then what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising.

WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. If you are seeing those then that’s a browser-ad-on issue, or in some cases, it’s embedded into free games downloaded from the internet. See here: Bloggers: Beware of Adware.

All of WordPress.com ads are family-friendly. If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it, upload it via Media -> Add New to your Media Library. Then return to this thread to post the file name to let Staff them know it’s there for them to view.

Also note to eliminate all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs we can purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

There has been ads and innappropriate links added to my sight that I have not created. We want all ads removed from the site and within the document that keep popping up.
