Only pic files are allowed to be uploaded. For that feature as well as methods for playing the clips as embed files, you may want to try a paid hoster instead of a free one.

I'd recommend you to use a service such Filelodge for that kind of hosting.

I'm brand new to wordpress.com. My group at work is looking at possibly creating short audio clips that we'd like to publish as enclosures.

I figured WordPress would be the easy solution.

But, if I can't even upload an audio file, then not so much.
