Can't I use different fonts of Urdu on blog or here in the forums? Will I have to use fonts upgrade? I was translating some strings to Urdu when I realized that the default fonts are too poor. I copy/paste the Nastaleek fonts but they were changed to default. (Times new romans I think). If one have fonts upgrade will the fonts like home, profile etc will remain default or will they be upgraded too. Because they exist as default font style in the store.

While the default fonts are the same throughout the forums, you can change which fonts are being used by your browser, if you prefer a different font. Here is the link to the support article on how to change the default font in Mozilla Firefox, for example. (Search the support documentation of your browser for "change fonts" if you are using something other than Firefox).

With the Custom Design upgrade, you would be able to use any fonts available from Typekit on your WordPress.com blog. Unfortunately, at the moment Typekit does not list Urdu among their supported languages.

@isadz, @hnsaifi: thank you for your feedback. I looked up the numbers and there are very few blogs that have set their language as Urdu. Let's give it some time to see if numbers go up, so that it would make sense to create an Urdu forum.

There is some broken code in the Strings, which is causing unwanted warnings. Please have a look at it.

The warnings appear because there are missing placeholders in translations, just like the message says. For example, in "%s Theme Options" %s would be replaced by the theme name to mean "Twenty Eleven Theme Options", "Pilcrow Theme Options", etc. So, in the translations you need to keep the %s placeholders, placing them where it makes sense - if you drop the placeholders, the meaning would be lost, and that's why the translations are not being saved are accepted.

@isadz: sorry about the delayed response to you query. As Torsten explained above, most translations on WordPress.com have been done by community volunteers. Now that you have brought it up, I created a new translation project for Urdu:

It sounds like you are mostly interested in translating the strings that appear in the Twenty Eleven theme. You can find all the strings from that theme by filtering on the term "twentyeleven". There, you can enter your suggested translations for "Home" , "Posted on", etc. Would you be interested in/have time for becoming a validator for Urdu? And if it came to creating Urdu forums, a forum moderator there?

Lots of languages do not have forums. I suspect if enough people wanted it to keep it active, it could be arranged. There is already an Arabic forum, so they have worked out any RtL writing issues there. So I think doing Urdu is just an issue of numbers.

Have you done a Google search with common Urdu text, with "site:wordpress.com" also in the search string, to find all the Urdu bloggers?

As for translation, do you mean translating the text in themes? Or the website forms? Don't expect forum posts to be translated. There are a number of other language forums, but not even in all the languages I can read.
