Yes, I registered "alangurling" only for an Akismet key as I was using the key for a WordPress.org installation. Unfortunately, performance of WordPress.org installations isn't usable so I have decided to get a subdomain.

I have access to the Akismet account, the email address, and the WordPress.com account, it just looks like the "alangurling" username can't be used to login anymore, nor can it be used for a domain/blog name here.

I have tried both links and they are not relevant to my issue as I know all passwords and I don't need to recover both accounts. I just need to get alangurling released, or the domain be created in the account instead of having it as a username only for Akismet.

When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username.

You cannot access any blog and work on it unless you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog. So what you can do is visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and if required click "Need More Help?"
