@timethief: I think that one of us is misunderstanding the original post, or I am misunderstanding your reply. You point out that Google ads and the like are not permitted here, and note the exceptions. In other words, your reply seems to be about outgoing ads: from wp.com to other sites.
But, if I read the OP correctly, it is about incoming ads: from other sites to a blog hosted at wp.com. I know of no policy against this, and neither apparently does tbol13.
@dontcomprimise: did I read your post correctly? If so, then your company has a blog hosted at wp.com.
Please provide the link to the wp.com-hosted blog you want to promote, starting with http://

@tbol13 and don'tcompromise

Please note this:

What is Google Adwords?
With Google AdWords, you can create and run ads for your business, quickly and simply. Run your ads on Google and our advertising network -- no matter what your budget, you'll only pay when people click your ads.

AdWords ads are displayed along with search results when someone searches Google using one of your keywords. ...

Using a wordpress.com blog to drive traffic to third party sites
What does advertising do? It drives traffic to third party sites. Can we use wordpress.COM blogs to drive traffic to third party sites? The answer is "no". Section 2, 5th bullet down of the wordpress.COM TOS states that we cannot use wordpress.com blogs to drive traffic to third party sites.
http://wordpress.com/tos/

Can bloggers initiate advertising on their wordpress.COM blogs?
The answer is "no" and doing will result in suspension or deletion of the blog. The only exception is for VIP hosted accounts.

I'm setting up AdWords to link to the company's main website. Is there is any reason why I can't use part of my AdWords campaign to run an ad that links to the blog? (I'm not wanting to display ads in the blog, simply to use AdWords to raise visibility of the blog - is that allowed?)

Many thanks.
