No quotation marks can be included when you paste the verification code into the text box. I've removed them for you and you should now be able to complete your verification.

I followed these steps:

Google Webmaster Tools
1.Log in to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ with your Google account.
2.Enter your blog address (without http:// or https:// in front)
3.Click the Add a Site button
4.You will be presented with several verification methods. Choose the Alternate Methods tab.
5.Select the option: Add a meta tag to your site's home page
6.Copy the content value of the meta tag. The content value is the bold text in this example:
<meta name='google-site-verification' content='dBw5CvburAxi537Rp9qi5uG2174Vb6JwH>
7.Leave the verification page open and go to your blog dashboard.
8.Open the Tools –> Available Tools Page and paste the content value in the Google Webmaster Tools field under the Webmaster Tools Verification header.
9.Click on Save Changes.
10.Go back to the verification page and click Verify.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong? Does it have to do with adding " " before or after the 'content'? Do I have to add < > before or after the content?

Does it have to do with domain name, like example.com vs example.worpress.com?

Thanks for any help.
