if i purchase a domain, will i have adverts on my blog?

Yes unless you purchase the No Ads Upgrade

To see the ads - log out and visit your blog - the standard ads are not shown to logged in users.

Disadvantage of domain name purchase and mapping - you need to pay the registration and mapping every year

Advantage - usually easier to remember and much more class and identification

timethief has a nice Post on why to register and map a domain name - visit her site (she helps in the forum) - or she might drop by and leave a link for you
