And have been at the blog for nearly the past 3 years.

It really helps to know that the other person has a complementary writing style and content. It doesn't have to be the same as yours. You just have to make sure the visual presentation and tone makes sense to the reader.

I've my own blogs on other places but I love this wordpress blog the most. In fact I'm the co-admin of the blog. If you don't know that someone personally then it will never work. Two friends however can can drive a blog well. I know some people who have more than than 3 or 4 fellow authors. It depends upon the nature of the blog and the minds of the authors.
