thesacredpath is correct.

The URLs will do a straight redirect, only replacing the domain. Anything that doesn't match the URL structure on the receiving site will issue a 404.

I'll wait for the staff to add to this, but that is kinda what I was thinking. The bad news, is that if that is correct, then I will have to write up 150+ mapping rules. :( Would rather not, but, again, there may not be any other way.

The wordpress.com redirect will redirect like to like URLs. Example:

From blog.wordpress.com/2011/02/16/title-of-entry

To: newdomain.com/2011/02/16/title-of-entry

If your new blogging platform does not have the URLs formed that way, then I'm not sure what will happen on the new domain end. It might produce 404 file not found errors. It is possible that you could customize the permalinks on the new software to match what wordpress does, but not knowing what you are using I don't have any idea if that is possible.

I have setup a new site and blog. Not to say WordPress does not have excellent blogging. It DOES! But, I want my blog and site integrated into one.

So, I have a new blog (non-wordpress) and I have exported by existing WP blog entries to it. My question is, what does my web server expecting in the context of the URL when the redirection happens?

I mean, do I expect the full path except for the domain? For example, if my current blog entry is: http://teneo.wordpress.com/2011/02/16/title-of-my-entry

Will my webserver see the same thing, except for domain? (i.e. http://newdomain.com/2011/02/16/title-of-my-entry ?

If so, I'll have to make a mapping of each entry in my new server.

Thanks in advance!
