"They must be public pages – not private." My blog at this point is private. As I learn wordpress I wanted to keep everything private until I have the layout and content as I'd like. Why isn't this mentioned in the instructions? (rhetorical question) It would save a lot of frustration. Guess I'll make it public with a password. Thanks again.

They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page "Welcome" for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.
Choice 1 static front page
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page
Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.
If you choose a static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Troubleshooting – My Pages aren’t appearing
They must be public pages – not private.
Public – The page will be visible to everyone.
Protected – The page is protected with a password you set. Only people who have the password can view a protected page.
Private – Pages are only visible to blog Editors and Administrators. Private pages are not visible in Reader, feeds, or in any search. A page can be private without being password protected.

I have followed all directions and cannot get the software to do what I want. The directions stated describe processes and options that aren't visible as I work through the problem. For instance, I've created pages yet no page shows in the in the "pages" box in the menu set up. Also the static front page doesn't show up in the readings portion of settings. I'm using the 2012 theme. Help please!
