You're welcome!
Even if moving to a different browser wasn't easy, the facts are that a) Explorer continues to ignore various web standards, b) whenever problems reported here prove to be browser-related, it's almost always Explorer, sometimes Chrome, almost never Firefox or Safari.

a) What you pasted isn't the URL, it's the complete image code (what you'd put in the HTML editor of a post or in a text widget). You need to paste the URL only, i.e. this:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx38/Decormamma/NewButton-1.jpg
But using images hosted elsewhere isn't good practice: your page will take longer to load, the image will not show up if the other site is down, and you may lose it if it gets relocated or removed. Better copy the image to your computer, upload it to your blog via Media > Add New, and use the file URL you'll get once it's uploaded.

b) IE is a lousy browser: the most reliable ones are Firefox and Safari.

Here is a sample of one I'm trying to use <img alt="http://www.findingfabulousblog.com/" src="http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx38/Decormamma/NewButton-1.jpg"/>

I'm using Internet Explorer with the most recently updated version and yes, I did make sure the "show link image" was checked in my Links widget.

Thanks!

With the help of "timethief" I've successfully added my favorite blogs (blogroll) to my sidebar. However, I am trying to load the image and each time I click on update, it disappears. I am doing this in the "advanced" box, copying/pasting their image URL because I want their blog button image to show, not the name of the title I typed.
