@notawoodpecker
Agreed. Using an offline blog editor like windows live writer or Ecto or creating posts in a plain text editor is definitely safer.

Thanks. Fortunately, my post was saved in a Google cache and I was able to repost it. Too bad I can't say the same thing about the lost version of my "Sweeper of Dreams" post, which encountered an error when I submitted it and disappeared when I backed up. Of course, that was the time I forgot to highlight and hit Ctrl-C before I submitted.

I believe I had it open in three browser tabs and closed them all out. I didn't think that would create a problem with the post already uploaded and the link tweeted out.

scottandrewhutchins - I'm sorry about the odd behaviour of your post - that is most frustrating.

Our developers have taken a look and unfortunately haven't been able to trace down the source of the technical problem. Is it possible that you had two browser windows or tabs open at the same time? If you wouldn't mind letting us know if this ever happens again, we'd appreciate it, so we can investigate further.

Thanks for your help, and apologies for the inconvenience.

My wife, for which I am writing this message, experienced this problem a couple of times when posting. This happened since a week or so. Learned from the first posting, she's copying and pasting her blogs first before she's publishing it. Sometimes succesful, but more it is not. The whole blog is gone.
Maybe it helps: she's writing her blogs on her EE laptop, while I later on republish her blog from my desktop computer without a problem.

Please rest assured that no one at WordPress has deliberately modified your post in any way. This looks like a possible database glitch - let me have our developers take a look and I'll get back to you.

I suggest you copy-paste the original post into a plain-text document in the meantime in case it needs to be recreated.

I'll keep you posted.
