Absolutely it should be easier; and is!

WordPress has a Gallery Feature that will do exactly what you're looking for. Simply go to the Post where you want multiple images and click "Add Media".

Then on the left sidebar click 'Create Gallery'. Select the images you want to use in the gallery and click 'Create A New Gallery' button in the lower right side of your screen.

You can then arrange the photos and add captions if you want. Important: If you want the images to be in a straight, one column line select '1 Column' from the right-hand menu. Finally, click 'Insert Gallery'.

I'm having a hard time aligning images. I'm trying to load multiple images onto a page and it's hard to move them around (can't click and drag). I'm having a hard time putting my cursor in during edit mode. They all jamb up next to each other. Shouldn't this be easier?
