Never mind all, I've got it. I'd say it would be helpful to add some direction to the Widely Theme showcase page to help out on this front, though.

To re-create the "Latest News" section:

1. Create a page. Name it "Latest News." Do not add content. Save and Publish.

2. Under Settings--> Reading, toggle "Statics Pages" for a homepage. Choose the page you have just created. Save your settings.

Hi all,

How does one mimic the "Latest News" section shown on the Widely Theme demo page at http://widelydemo.wordpress.com/?

For what it's worth, the theme's page gives direction on how to build a slider (that's easy enough), but not on the sections that follow it.

Thanks..
