However, what are dynamic categories?

Actually what you are asking is what are dynamic category pages. These category pages are dynamic because whenever you add a post to that category, the category page changes (dynamically) to add the new post. Here is one of your category pages:
http://paperportraiture.wordpress.com/category/food-and-recipes/

You can make a custom menu which includes links to that category page (or any or all of your category pages).

Hi timethief, thank you for your reponses. As for the morning after theme, I think i understand how it works well enough - I'm happy with how it shows only one post, summarized, and any featured post I choose to show on the homepage. As for organizing posts, I also did know that it's done by assigning categories to them, yes. However, what are dynamic categories?

I think I understood what you wrote about the categories and custom menu, but will I be able to accomplish what I wanted to? Do you know how I could do it? Will I have to change my theme to twenty ten or twenty eleven in order to do this? Thank you very much for the links, they're helpful.

If you know how I can do this, maybe you can give me a bit of a step by step ..? (whether it's changing my theme and applying the above changes with custom menus) I know how to change themes lol, but I'm not too sure if i understand how to make the category pages. I'm also afraid of changing themes and messing around but then not being able to go back to what I had.

Thank you very very much for your help! I'm reading through those pages now.

There is only one dynamic page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on that page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page. By default the front page of the blog will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can add the dynamic categories pages created by the software into the custom menu.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages-to-your-menu

Here’s a link to a custom menu walkthrough > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/11/wordpress-com-custom-menu-walk-through/

There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

To be more exact, I want to do what has been done on this site: http://hypebeast.com/ when you go to one of their pages, like "Style" and click on "Streetsnaps" it goes to a page of posts. i would like to do the same thing - but I have no knowledge of HTML or anything.

I dont have a .com domain, if that's relevant, and my theme is the morning after. I'd like to keep my homepage as it is - with one featured post. Is it possible that I post under a category but the post is not shown on the home page as latest post? Is there a way to show one featured post on my homepage, and put all my posts under their respective category by putting the categories as pages?

So the post would appear only on the "page" and of course under its category. Is something like this possible? Basically, what they've done at Hypebeast...

I hope i explained myself well, im new to wordpress and don't understand much or anything about HTML. I really appreciate any help so thank you in advance to anybody who answers!
