a home page for my posts

  1. Hi,

I have a problem with making a homepage for my posts. I tried out the static page feature. This resulted in a static "About" page, a blog posts menu item (I learned it's not technically a "page") I titled "Blog", and two category pages I chose to make. When I go onto my blog, I get directed to the "About" page first and have to click to the "Blog" to see my posts. Even when I switched the placement of About and Blog in the menu, About still behaves as a home that you see first when visiting my blog. I removed the static feature and just had an About page, but that removed the posts menu link I called Blog.

I want a menu link for Blog because it reads better to have that than clicking on my blog title, but I want my blog posts to be the first thing a reader sees when they visit me online. I don't like all-about-me with my picture to be the first thing someone sees. I see other blogs are set up this way. How did they do it?

    I use the 2012 theme.

The blog I need help with is selfdomesticationproject.wordpress.com.

  2. You go to Settings > Reading and set the blog front to display your latest posts, then you go to Appearance> Menus and correct your custom menu.

  3. Thank you. Is there a way for me to make a menu item that says Home that leads to my blog posts, or does my theme not allow that?

  4. You're welcome.
What you can add to a custom menu isn't theme dependent. You go to Appearance > Menus and click View All in the Pages module: the topmost item that will show up is a home link.
For more details on custom menus see this post of mine:

  5. Thankyou again! That solved it. I had overlooked that link since it had no title. Thanks :)
