I would like to insert a table on the text area of my splash page (Home Page) so that I can have sections with news from each section of my site. For example, imagine a one column, 5-row table where each cell is a news section that holds a title and a small description of that news. I do not know if there is any other way of doing it other than with a table. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

You can set a static front page and then manually create an HTML table on it or you can use an HTML table generator to create the table.
