Accidentally deleted posts

    Does anyone else think it is RIDICULOUS that the EDIT and DELETE buttons are right on top of each other in the Edit Posts window and there is no confirmation before your post is deleted?! I guess I wasn't being careful when I went to click Edit, and with a blink of an eye, the post that I worked on for hours was deleted!

    Thank god I could cut and paste from the Google cache, but I still had to work for a good chunk of time to repost my pictures and make sure it looked like the original.

    So frustrating! Shouldn't these buttons be moved a little further away from each other? Or the user should be asked for confirmation that a post should be deleted.

    Are you talking about the links "Edit/Quick Edit/Delete/Preview" that appear when you hover your mouse over the Post in the "Edit Post" window or in the Visual/HTML Editor window?

    Regardless, I just tried to delete one of my test posts in both windows and was immediately greeted by a pop-up window asking me to confirm the deletion.

    What browser are you using?

    Actually, it sounds to me like an independent blog using an older version of WP.

    Well I don't know how people can accidentally delete posts with the current setup; it's not one-click anymore. We have had reports of people "testing the delete function" only to discover that it works.

    I'm using Firefox 3.0.3, and I am talking about "Edit/Quick Edit/Delete/Preview" that appear when you put the cursor over the title you want to edit. No pop-up window appeared or was blocked to ask for confirmation before deleting.

    I am using a Firefox 3.0.6 and I'm visually impaired and also coping with a tremor (accident - head injury) and yet I've never had this problem. Perhaps you should upgrade your Firefox.

    Ah, interesting. I can't duplicate this error. I am using the same version of Firefox as you and I still get the pop-up box.

    @thegirlcalledrachel-If you are using Firefox, I definitely agree with timethief on upgrading to 3.0.6. I remember when we all had to upgrade to 3.0 from 2.8 (?) because we weren't getting any joy from the Admin Bar at the top of the page. It just didn't work as expected in 2.8.

    And do consider linking your username to your blog. The instructions are in the sticky at the top of the forum "8 Things to Know Before Posting".

    Hmmm...OK, then would a pop-up suppressor, antivirus or firewall cause a warning window to not show up?

    Thanks justjennifer. I'm going to try updating Firefox.
