ad bar at the top of wordpress.com

  1. When I try to enter my dashboard, there is this rather large advertisement at the very top that says, "Click here to earn donations at [merchant-name] for [charity-name]1.0% donation on qualified purchases"

There is a large red x at the right, but when I click it to close this ad, nothing happens and it prevents me from accessing the admin bar at the top.

Is this from you guys or something else with my firefox browser? It is becoming rather annoying and I haven't clicked the link for fear of some virus.

The blog I need help with is livingelpaso.wordpress.com.

  2. That's not coming form WordPress.com. Disable all your browser and and extensions.

  3. Just to clarify WordPress.com does not implement any advertising that results in text underscoring or colorization, text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. Know also that to date every blogger who has reported this on the support forums has had a browser-add-on or browser extension, game, toolbar or shopping app that was the cause of the unwanted adware.

  4. Thank you timethief, you were correct. It dealt with an add-on. After it was disabled, the problem was solved.

    Thanks again!

  5. You're welcome and best wishes.

  7. I am having the same problem and would like to know which add-on it is was. I have very few add-ons and almost all of them are flash/programming languages etc.
