Ad/Adding A Word Counter Widget

    I found this word counter widget information on this site.
    To add a cute little word counter widget like mine, do the following:
    1. From the Dashboard, look at “Right now” and click “widgets”
    2. Add a new text widget and give it an appropriate title.
    3. Paste in the following HTML: (Thanks to Andy for this!)
    <div style=”width:175px;height:15px;background:#33FFFF;border:1px solid #000000;”><div style=”width:10%;height:15px;background:#00CCCC;font-size:8px;line-height:8px;”>
    </div></div>1000 / 100000 words. 10% done!

    I'd like to use it but first off I don't see "Right Now" on the Dashboard
    Secondly, it says paste in the following HTML, exactly where do you do this.
    3rd. I'd like the widget to be displayed under a header that would say "Work In Progress"

    I really would appreciate it if someone can help me with this.
    Thank you.

  2. There is no "right now" in a wordpress dashboard.

    Widgets are under appearance > widgets.

    You add a text widget to your sidebar and then paste the code into the text widget body (if it doesn't open automatically when you add it, click on the right end of the blue title bar for the widget and it will open). The top small field is for a title and the larger lower text area is for the content (the code in this case).

    Thank you for both answers. I'll try to do this tomorrow when I'm a litle more alert. I'm going to have to read up on those text widgets. Thanks again.

  4. The code above is for some reason not saving. I pasted it into a post (HTML) and wordpress is stripping out the border style and color settings and leaving this:

    <div style="”width: 175px; height: 15px; background: #33FFFF; border: 1px;">
    <div style="”width: 10%; height: 15px; background: #00CCCC; font-size: 8px; line-height: 8px;"></div>
    </div>
    1000 / 100000 words. 10% done!

    So it doesn't work?

  6. It does, but not completely.

  7. OK, the code you posted ended up with some curly quotes in it and when I went through and fixed it, it works. Just in case there are issues in the original code, use the following:

    <div style="width:175px;height:15px;background:#33FFFF;border:1px solid #000000;"><div style="width:10%;height:15px;background:#00CCCC;font-size:8px;line-height:8px;">
    </div></div>1000 / 100000 words. 10% done!
  8. Thanks it's a great little gozmo, I just have to brush up on my persentages now lol

  9. That should say *gizmo* my spelling needs a brush up too
