Add DNS record for jasonfredrick.com
-
I’ve tried to add a Zone Record for the domain jasonfredrick.com but it asked me to contact support. Could you please add the Zone Record for me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

jasonfredrick.com is already registered with us, so it doesn’t need a zone record.
What are you trying to do with the domain?
-
-
Ok, then you just need to change your domain’s name servers to direct it to the name servers that GoDaddy provided for your hosting account: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/
-
-
It’s possible. I’d just contact them to ask what the name servers are for your hosting account, then follow this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/
-
well just got off the phone with godaddy and they said they dont have access to my nameserver… they said it strictly goes through you!!!
-
Right, you change the name servers through us, but you need to ask GoDaddy what your hosting account name servers are first.
Once they tell you what your hosting account’s name servers are, you’ll change them following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/
-
they said they cannot tell me what my name servers are… they said only you would know… which I thought a bit odd, but is spent 45 min and 22 secs on the phone with 3 different people and they all told me the same thing. “WordPress is a partner with godaddy and they keep all that info from us so we cacnnot even tell you what the nameservers would be.”

Hi there,
I know that you’ve had a lot of back and forth at this point, but just to make sure, have you logged in to your account at GoDaddy.com and looked in your hosting account to see what nameservers are listed there?
GoDaddy has an article which walks you through how to do so right here:
http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/6795/finding-your-hosting-accounts-nameservers
There’s no question that they should have been able to tell you themselves, but it may be that this article can sort things out for us! If for some reason the nameservers aren’t listed where that article says they should be, let me know and I’ll see what else we can do to figure this out!

It says that the nameservers are not set…

it says that I can update my A record as well, but wordpress wont let me do that either??

Hi there,
I’ve reached out directly to GoDaddy through some of our channels to see if I can’t get this straightened out. I should hear back from them soon.
Just to be clear, is your hosting account a Shared hosting account and not a Virtual Dedicated or Dedicated server?
If it is a Shared hosting account and you have a dedicated IP (one that doesn’t change), I can point your domain towards that IP and it will work great. But if it is a shared IP, then it could change at any time, and your site would end up going down. Much better to find out what your nameservers are!
If you have either a Virtual Dedicated or Dedicated server, then please let me know! That will change the way we’ve been approaching this issue! :)

Hi Jason,
That IP appears to be a shared IP. Going to it gives me a server response from GoDaddy’s server saying “pageok”.
If it had been a dedicated IP, I would have pulled up your site (or if you’ve installed WordPress.org there, an error of some sort since your domain isn’t pointed quite yet).
So since this is the shared IP, like I said before, I can point your domain right now towards that, but there can be some real problems with it and your site could go down with no warning whatsoever.
Or, alternatively, I could wait to hear back from GoDaddy and get the correct nameservers, which would be the better and more stable solution. You let me know which one you’d prefer!

this is what it tells me…
Log into your domain registrar (where you bought it).
Update your DNS (A record) to point to your hosting account.
New A record: 184.168.25.1
Return to your hosting account and check DNS again. -

Hi there,
Per your request, I was changing the nameservers for your domain name (steps which are required in order for me to change your IP), however I see that you have logged back in to your domain and changed your nameservers back to wordpress.com’s.
If you would like to rather keep the wordpress.com nameservers, you can do so! But if you’d rather have your IP updated then I will need to modify your domain name settings.
