Add DNS record for ob.net.au and update the MX records

  1. I've tried to add a Zone Record for the domain ob.net.au but it asked me to contact support. Could you please add the Zone Record for me?

    Also my email is hosted with Crazy Domains in Australia and as my email account is not working they have requested the following...

    It appears that the name servers are pointing with wordpress. You’ll need to log in to contact wordpress support to update the MX records back to us. Kindly configure the following:

    A record
    mail.ob.net.au. --> 27.124.120.1

    MX record
    ob.net.au. --> mail.ob.net.au.

    Regards,
    http://www.CrazyDomains.com

    I have tried to update my DNS records but it wont accept the information for the 'A record' ...
    A mail.ob.net.au 27.124.120.1

    Can you please help.

    The blog I need help with is ob.net.au.

  2. You cannot add an A record for a root level domain such as mydomain.com through the WordPress.com Custom DNS editor. You should be able to map to the mail subdomain though. For example:

    A mail 27.124.120.1
    MX 10 mail.ob.net.au.

    Could you try those entries and see if they work for you?

  3. I tried what you have suggested and I also tried.
    A webmail 27.124.120.1
    MX 10 mail.ob.net.au.

    And neither of these work. I am urgently needing to fix this problem.

    Thank you.

  4. I've changed the record to:

    MX 10 mail.ob.net.au.
    A mail 27.124.120.1

    Note it might take up to 72 hours before the records are fully propagated.

  5. Thank you for your help.

    I hope this works. :)

  6. Hi there,

    I just wanted to check in and see if your email setup is now working as expected.

    Best!

  7. Yes, the email is now working and I can access the emails through webmail, but I am having trouble setting it up in Outlook.

    The POP and SMTP settings - mail.ob.net.au are not working.

    Can you tell me what these setting may be?

    Thank you.

  8. Hi there,

    You should check back in with your email provider about that.

    Best!
