Add story to another blog

    Hi all,

    This may be a stupid question.

    I am completely new to blogs and am still learning the terminology.

    How would someone ask someone to link their story on another persons blog, is this possible?

    Or are blogs simply for one person to edit and update.

    Again sorry for the realllllly basic question, just trying to get my head round it all.

    Please don't bump threads.

    We generally ask you for the link to your blog when you ask a question, and also for you to read the stickies at the top of the forum.

    I think no one has responded to your question because we don't know what you're asking. Could you please clarify what you want?

    Hi,

    I am really new to this blog concept so you will have to forgive my ignorance.

    Its not really a specific blog question so sending my blog url it not really relevant here.

    My query is really just a general query about blogs and wordpress. Can a person publish content to another persons blog site?

    By the way, what is a stickie? Is this a workpress term?

    @David: Please don't insist on the blog URL thing. We always ask for it: the one reason is the one you understand (checking things in the blog to pinpoint the problem or suggest an applicable solution), but the other reason is that we get an impossibly large number of wrong visits from non wp.COM bloggers, so we also need to confirm you've got a wp.COM blog. Several of us don't give answers otherwise.

    Hi guys,

    Here is the url of the blog that I am working on, its only got the one entry at the moment however I am hoping to build it up and have the content on other blogs. The blog will be used to promote stag locations and stag ideas

    So with reference to my question, can this content appear on another blog at my request or is it the case that someone needs to come across the blog, take an interest and sort of register it or something to their blog?

    I'm thinking you are asking about comments?

    If you see a blog that interests you, you could comment on some of the posts. That way the blog owner can make your comment public.

    You can add a links widget to your blog and add links to blogs you like; one would hope that some of the blogs you like would also link back to your blog.

    If you want to write a post on someone else's blog, the owner would have to invite you to do that.

    Thankyou 1tess, this makes sense.

    So could you put a comment about someone elses blog on yoursite and then put a link back to theirs in your page or in the blogroll. Is this how the blogging thing works?

    How do you ask someone if you can write a page on their blog, is there a tool to contact someone? Is it simply by email or is there a facility within wordpress.

    Some people have "contact me" on a page or in a sidebar and just use that. Otherwise, if you know the person, and know their email, use that. If there is no contact me, then leave a short friendly comment on their blog. The blog owner will be able to see your email address.

    Also if you link to your name, then when you post others will be able to find your blog.
    How to make your name link to your blog:

    "Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to 'contact info'. In the spot where it says 'website' fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
    Now... when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won't have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one."

    You could write your story as a post in your own blog, and put a link in your story to this other one's blog.

    Or you could just make a comment on that person's blog. Most people don't really want to read a whole long story in a comment, though. Well, if it's really fascinating, maybe.
