Adding a image/photo gallery page in Twentyeleven

  1. Okay, I've read up on the difference between posts and pages, and I managed to create a static showcase front page and have directed my blog to the "Fast Lane" page. When I explore the Twentyeleven theme, there is a link to "see it in action". Here (http://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/) it shows a link for "Photo Site". Is this a separate site, or a special page? How can I get my Looky-Loo page to be a photo image or gallery page and get the link on the bar?

The blog I need help with is sisterblisters.wordpress.com.

  2. Please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here. Or, better, make your username link to your blog (Users > Personal Settings: scroll down to Account Details, paste blog URL in the Website field, click Save Changes).

  3. Thanks for reminding me to post my blog link!

  4. So,
The "Photo Site" tab on the demo links to a separate site. You can do that by creating a custom top menu.

But you don't need that, since you're talking about a page in your own blog. The "link on the bar" for that page is already there. You just need to edit the page and add the images you want, either as individual images or using the WP gallery feature.

  5. Thank you for your help.
I understand that I can add image/gallery format posts to my blog page "Fast Lane", and sticky posts to the featured area, but the "Looky Loo" page is rather static and is outside of my blog. I had a feeling that the Photo Site on the demo page was a separate site. So my next question is how can I link a separate site to my blog? I'm assuming that it would require some work. I've read just about everything WP support has about image/gallery post formats, pages vs posts, etc. I just haven't been able to find a way to link my photos to my blog like the demo site. This is my aim, but I may not have been very clear.

  6. Perhaps I should ask, how do I create a custom top menu? I'm willing...just need some detail.

  7. Yes! I did it! Thank you so much! :)
