Adding a page 'Like' button inside a post

  1. Hello, I've tried searching for this topic in the forum. I wanted to avoid creating a new discussion, but I could not find an answer. I see people being directed to the bottom of a post.

I have often-visited posts in my blog, but they are not translating into likes. I would like to add a button inside the body of my posts that when pressed (assuming reader is signed into their facebook account) will like my connected Facebook Page. I see that functionality in the widget section, but I see no html in the widget that I could copy to my posts.

Is there HTML code that I can add in the body of my post that creates a button that let's readers Like my Facebook Page. It seems you do not have a problem with this action since we allow it in the widgets section.

    Please advise, thank you.

The blog I need help with is wordsonalimb.com.

The Facebook like box widget provided by Facebook is JavaScript and cannot be used on WordPress.com blogs.

  3. Is there a workaround not using javascript? Essentially I need a shortcode that would display a small website (contains fb Like button) http://on.fb.me/SfayLU on my post. If post readers could see this little tiny webpage in the post, they could press the like and problem would be solved. No javascript required :)

  4. Any button is just and image that can be linked to. A badge or button is You can capture an image and upload it and link to it.

You can upload image files by clicking the Add Media button right above the editing area of a page or a post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/

You can also upload new files to your Media Library using Media → Add New. http://support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new

  5. I see your point, but if you look at http://on.fb.me/SfayLU, you will see that the button is not linkable (it has no URL). It's managed by Facebook, I imagine. It doesn not link to any other place. The button controls someone liking or unliking a Facebook page. When you press it, it does not send you anywhere, just changes the 'like' status.

If I could display this tiny website, readers could press this button and change the 'like' status without leaving the post.

    Any other options?

  6. No

  7. The Facebook integration options at this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/ are all the options available.
