    How do you add a reader to your private blog who does not yet have a WordPress.com account?

    Users have to have a WordPress.com account to be able to see a private blog.

    However, note that users don't have to create a WordPress.com blog - we offer an option to sign up for just an account, here:

    https://en.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1
