Adding an iPetition widget...

  1. I have the source code for adding an iPetition widget. I'm just not sure where to add it. Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
    Thanks so much!
    Lisa :-)

    The blog I need help with is inductphilcollins2rrhof.wordpress.com.

  2. We cannot provide an answer until your post the code here between code tags.

    Is the code an iframe code or JavaScript? The software will strip both of those out for security reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

  3. Hi timethief...
    Thank you for responding so quickly.
    Here's the code they note can be added to any website or blog....

    <div style="display:block; clear:both; text-align: left; background: #e033ff url('http://cdn.ipetitions.com/rev/2676/assets/images/widgets/cyan.png') no-repeat top left; width: 200px;">
    <iframe src="http://www.ipetitions.com/widget/view/cyan/622616" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" style="width: 200px; height:145px; border:0;"></iframe>
    <div style="text-align:left; font-family:Arial;font-size: 11px; width: 181px; margin-top: -5px; padding: 3px 5px 6px 14px; color: #76009c;">
    Petition by iPetitions
    </div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-307455-4']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'ipetitions.com']); _gaq.push(['_setAllowHash', 'false']); _gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', true]); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);})();
    </script>
    </div>

    Hopefully, this is acceptable code to use.
    But since I'm not overly familiar with code, I'm guess I'm not entirely sure where exactly to add it on my page. And as far as code tags, you're referring to the use of [code language="css"], etc, right?

    Thanks again... :-)

  4. iframe
    That code cannot be used on a free hosted WordPress.com blog for security reasons.

  5. javascript
    That code cannot be used on a free hosted WordPress.com blog for security reasons.

  6. Well that's kind of a disappointment...at least now I know.
    Thanks again for your help & advice.

  7. You can create a simple text link to send readers to the petition site.

    This is the general link model:
    <a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>
    This is the visual result - it's not actually linked here in the forum.
    Highlighted anchor text here

    1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that "here" is not a good choice.
    2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don't highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
    3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.

    You're welcome and best wishes.

  8. Thank you for this alternative way to add this petition.
    I'm wondering if it would be possible to utilize this premise with an image file to act as an icon on my sidebar or header that links to the petition page.
