Adding authors and removing extra home tab with Blix

  1. I recently upgraded to be able to customize my site. I liked the Blix theme a good bit, and switched over, however, I have two problems that I cannot solve - but should be able to now that I have paid for customization.

    1) Author names do not show up on entries. Where can I add this?
    2) I had named my "Home" page "Welcome!" in my old theme. It always showed up as "Welcome!". It's still there, but now there's an additional tab for "Home". There is no page named home, so....what is this? It redirects a reader back to welcome. So...How do I get rid of the extra tab?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is scifund.wordpress.com.

  2. I'm flagging this thread so it gets moved to the CSS Forum where you can get help with your CSS editing.

  3. Hi jebyrnes,

At this time, the display of author names is not a feature of the Blix theme. It is not possible to add author names using the Custom Design upgrade because that is something that needs to be changed in the theme template files, and not just the stylesheet.

As a workaround, you could manually type out a byline for your posts inside the post editor. You might also be interested in our Author Grid Widget or Authors Widget, both which allow you to showcase your authors in the sidebar.

As for the "Home" link, you can make it disappear by going to Appearance > Menus in your Dashboard and assigning a Custom Menu in the box labelled "Theme Locations". This will restore the menu you had before you switched themes.

    I hope this helps!
