Adding homepage url link to blog header image.

  1. Hello,

    I just joined the other day and love it all so far. I was just posting a few articles and came across an issue with my blog that I have no idea how to sort. I am using the Vertigo Theme and uploaded my header image as a jpg. I want to know how i can install a homepage link in the header so people can click on and get back to home page???

    Tried looking round for answers came across a few but they were all code talk so i am clueless on that front but willing to learn how to do it if anyone can point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    The blog I need help with is thebritisharec0ming.wordpress.com.

  2. When you remove the Blog Title form this page > Settings > General you do so at your own risk, It not only provides the home link to your blog but it's also placed wehere search engines will find it and if it's not on that page then your content may not be indexed. So the simple answer to your question is place you blog title here > Settings > General and save changes. It's free and it's easy to do.

    Provided you are experienced in CSS editing and willing to purchase an annually renewable Custom design upgrade that blog title can be hidden and a link can be placed in the header. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

  3. @TT: src1226 has hidden, not removed, the title. The theme supports that option.

    @src1226: You mean you want to add a visible "Home" tab or turn your header image into a home link?

  4. @Panos
    Thank you. I should have checked in my test blog.

    @src1226
    I apologize for not setting up Vertigo on my test blog before answering you. :(

  5. @TT: You don't have to do that! My "Header Images" survey apart, you can check the sourcecode of the blog and quickly see if the title is there or not.

  6. I would like to turn my header image into a home link if possible.

    Thanks for the replies I shall look into all the suggestions. Do I have to upgrade to a custom profile to be able to do this though?

  7. Tricky but possible. Go to Appearance>Widgets, add a Text widget to either footer area, paste the following into it, Save:

    <div align="center" style="width:100%;top:-42px;left:0;position:absolute;z-index:11;">
<a href="http://thebritisharec0ming.wordpress.com"><div style="width:960px;height:268px;"></div></a>
</div>

    This will produce an invisible linking rectangle in front of your header image.

  8. hey panaghiotisadam

    That did the trick! Thanks so much for that I really appreciate it!

    have a good weekend and thanks for all the replies.

  9. You're welcome!
