I am not sure how exactly to add things like a Facebook or Twitter link for the subject I'm writing about. I am writing about a band and would like to add icon links to Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud etc. Anyone know how those work in a new post, if they work?
I know how to highlight text and change it to a link. Not sure how to add an icon/thumbnail and make that a link.

Just go to Settings->Sharing and choose which links you want.
No, no, I want to add Twitter/Facebook links to the band's links, not my own. Settings is for me to publicize my posts. I want to have a link to the band's Twitter in my post. Apologies if I didn't make that clear. Thanks for thoughts though!
Okay, you can just find and save an icon for whatever service it is, upload it, click on it in the Write Post box, and add a link to it as if it were text.
