Adding image to solely a homepage

  1. I need to add an image which will only feature on my homepage and not all the other pages. I use wordpress.com templates, as opposed to .org downloads. Will I be able to do this through CSS customisation?

The blog I need help with is football-united-blogs.com.

  2. Regarding the blog linked to your username please note the following. In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

  3. Re:CSS editing and custom design upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/ can only be used to change appearance and not functionality. I'll flag this thread so Staff answer your specific question for you.

Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup, PHP code, or content. You can choose to apply your custom fonts or custom stylesheet to any of the themes available on WordPress.com.

  4. Where did you want to put the image?

One way would be to put it into a post and set that post as a sticky post and it would show at the top of the content area on the main page forever, or until you removed it or "unstuck" it. If you did not want a title or any of the metadata to show around the image, we can hide that via CSS for that particular post by targeting the post ID number.

  5. You can use the "home" class on the body element to target as well. In other words, yes you can probably add an image just on your homepage and not all the other pages. It would be great for us to see an example and description of where you want to put the image, each theme is unique so it's always a good idea to check the specifics.
