Adding Links to side bar

  1. I have followed the steps on the tutorial. I (think) was successful in adding my links to the list of links. I dragged both the calendar and links option from the widgests menu. Only the calendar appears?

The blog I need help with is rbfoundation.wordpress.com.

  2. For the Links widget, you have to tell it what to display. Open the widget and choose the Link category

  3. I did that -- I chose links under widget -- and dragged it to the sidebar.

The list shows calendar and links -- however, a calendar is theonly thing that appears in the side bar.

  4. I went to the appearance section and selected widgets.

    It reads on the left

    "The main sidebar"
    Calendar
    Links

    ???

  5. In order for the Links widget to display any links at all the links entered must be assigned to categories. Did you do that with each link you added?

  6. You don't even have to do that. If all the blogroll links were assigned to the default "blogroll" category, you just need to select "all" from the dropdown menu inside the Links Widget.

In other words, just adding the Links Widget isn't enough. You have to open the widget, either by clicking on its title bar or by clicking on the down arrow on the right side of the title bar and letting the widget know what you want displayed there.
