Adding old posts to new page

I just activated the "Profile" template on my blog and I want to add the posts that were already on the blog to a specific page. I want my blog to be divided up between the "About" page, that is the static home page; the "Books" page, where I will post all of my books; and a separate "Blog" page where I can have the old posts.

I don't know how to do this. Help!

The blog I need help with is carlydrake.com.

  2. http://carlydrake.com/books/ is a static page that will never ever automatically update. You need to make it into a category and then assign it to the correct posts.

    (1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog and
    (2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menus

We can also add other items into a custom menu like static Pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages but as I said above no static Pages will ever automatically update.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

    This was very helpful, thanks!

Is there a way to get the title to not say "Books Category" or "Blog Category" at the top?

Also, even though there is a picture inserted in the post it is not showing up. If I set it as the "featured image" it does, but then its cut off.

Is there anyway to fix that?

    Thanks again!

  4. Yes. create a custom menu and add the pages to it. When you do that you will be able to shorten the page slug (what display in the tab) 'in the "Navigation Label" field.

    Navigation Label - slug
    Title Attribute - actual title

  5. Also, even though there is a picture inserted in the post it is not showing up. If I set it as the "featured image" it does, but then its cut off.

I clearly see the oversized image http://carlydrakedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2013/09/1013-words-once-spoken_1400-1.jpg
    1,400px × 2,141px (scaled to 364px × 558px)
