Adding Recipes

  1. I have recently started a blog and am working to do ten posts before I publish it. I am struggling with finding an easy way to add recipes. Since it's mostly a recipe site, I want to be able to add them with ease, preferably with a template. And how do I add the option to print the recipe? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is therealdealmarin.com.

  2. Add the Print Post button to your posts; that's on the Dashboard under Settings->Sharing.

There are some themes with different post formats, but I don't know of any that have a recipe template. Most bloggers here just use normal paragraph formatting for recipes.

  3. You may also want to check out the "recipes" tag on WordPress.com to see what others are doing:

Looks like most people just add a recipe inline inside the post itself. I've come across food blogs in the past where people make a print-friendly PDF version of the recipe and link it in the post. That is pretty custom and an extra step, so it's up to you to decide whether or not you'd like to do something like that. I'd recommend starting to build up a readership and then ask your readers what they'd like!

P.S. I *love* good food blogs! Welcome to WordPress.com. :)

  4. I asked the WordPress.com Theme Team about finding a better way to segment out printable content areas like recipes, and they said it's something that's been on the ideas list for a while and probably will get worked on in the not-too-distant future.
