Adding right Column

  1. This is a free theme I'd very much like to add a second column to the right on.

The designer apparently no longer supports it:

    Thanks,

The blog I need help with is ricland.wordpress.com.

  2. Greetings,
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

On free hosted wordpress.COM blogs we can only use the themes which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and made available to us here. > Appearance > Themes and no others. We cannot edit either themes or templates on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

The CSS upgrade cannot be used to add a sidebar to pages which do not have one already. That would require hacking of the underling PHP script files, which we cannot do on free hosted WordPress.com blog .

But we do have themes that do have multiple sidebar layouts. See:

  3. Now that you told me how not to do it, why not tell me how to do it?

And don't worry, I won't report you to the Grand High Muckety Muck.

    Geez ...

  4. You can't use that theme you linked to on a WordPress.com blog.
The only themes you can use are found here > Appearance > Themes
To locate the names of the themes you can select there > Appearance > Themes that have the number of sidebars you want see here first > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/02/26/sidebars-and-other-widget-areas/
