Adding to existing gallery

  1. Is there an easier way to add images to an existing gallery? I have an artist's website with galleries for each works that I've done. When I go back to add new images, I find that there's no button to add to existing gallery. Just "create a new gallery." I do go into the gallery and tried to add there. Also I've gone into Media and to add new images into the gallery pages. But there appears to be no clear cut way.

The blog I need help with is marleneleeart.com.

  2. So, when you go to the edit screen of a page with a gallery and click the "text" view, you'll see something like this:

    [gallery order="DESC" type="rectangular" ids="1688,720,721,719,537,534,187,181,183,186,189,188,715,716,717,718,541,540"]

The numbers are attachment ID's for images in the media library. You just need to add on the ID of the image you want to include.

To get an attachment ID for an image, go to your Media Library and click on the title of the image you want. You can find the ID in the URL (the number after post=).

  3. Thanks.

  4. Happy to help.

  5. You should be able to add to any existing gallery by clicking your cursor in a gallery that appears in any post or page and then clicking on the edit icon, which is now a pencil. That will open your existing Gallery for editing in the Media Manager screen and you can then add by clicking on the Add to Gallery link in the left sidebar of the Media Manager. You can either select additional images from your Media Library or upload new images.

When you are done adding new images to the Gallery, click the "Add to Gallery button and then click the "Update Gallery" button and your new images should appear in the existing Gallery.

If you need to change the order of the images in the Gallery, you can do so by dragging and dropping the thumbnail that appears in the Media Manager prior to clicking the "Update Gallery" button.

    Hope that also helps.

  6. PS everything I mentioned above takes place in the Visual tab of the Post Editor.
